Welcome to all about Dominik Janelle!
Bonjour! Hello there! My name is Dominik Janelle and I’m running to be your city councillor for the brand new Ward 24, Barrhaven East.
I am a proud Barrhaven resident of 13 years, mental health advocate, and volunteer worker thrilled to be seeking your support. Caring for others is something I pursue passionately and I strive to be the change I want to see in our community.
I’m an avid and active volunteer in our community.
In my efforts I have assisted Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, I participate in the City of Ottawa’s Adopt-a-Park program, and I have most recently assisted on the recent Mayoral Debate hosted by CAFES Ottawa.
Having grown up in Barrhaven, attending St. Andrews Catholic School and Longfields Davidson Heights Secondary School, I bring a fresh, unique, and new local perspective to municipal politics.
Having been first to advocate for our new ward, as well as to bring Barrhaven East past the present and into the future, I hope to have your consideration, support, and vote this October 24th.

My first ever job was in Barrhaven East, with the Nepean Flyer Force. My sibilings and I would deliver newspapers to residents of Barrhaven and I have always enjoyed meeting and speaking with my neighbors.
Since then, I have worked as a Timekeeper for the Nepean Minor Hockey Association (NMHA), a Soccer Referee with Ottawa South United (OSU), an evening Team Supervisor at Tim Hortons, a Mover for Cassidy’s Moving and Storage, a Clerk at Party City and as a French Tutor with Ottawa Catholic School Board.
In my University years, I worked as a Student Software Developer at Rockport Networks, a Software Application Developer at Statistics Canada, a Junior Programmer at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and as a Engineering and Computer Science Intern at Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC).
In summation, I have worked in both private and public sectors throughout my life, and each position has provided a different set of challenges of which I have always risen to meet.
In my years in Ottawa, I have in total, volunteered with the Ottawa Mission, Salvation Army, CAFES Ottawa, the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
I am also the Treasurer for my Fraternity, entailing budget management, fiscal responsibility and providing a yearly balanced budget.
As an associate member with Branch 641 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Barrhaven, I participated in their Clean Up The Capital campaign in May of this year!
In April I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Salvation Army church on Bill Leathem Drive. This will be a place for my community to come together and I look forward to the day it opens.
Since March I have walked 250+ km cleaning up garbage and litter alongside our roadways, sidewalks and parks. I want a cleaner environment for everyone and hope to inspire others by example!
At the local level, I am our city’s volunteer caretaker of Redpath Park through the City of Ottawa’s Adopt-a-Park program!
